How to utilise the budget

With the Google Ad Grant you will have $120,000 USD more to add to your existing advertising budget. But what should you spend this amount of free online marketing supply on and how? We have made a list to give you some inspiration:

  • Connecting with supporters – which is one of the most important parts of being a non-profit organisation.
  • Raising awareness – the further up on Google Search you are placed, the more exposure and traffic you get.
  • Grow online donations – increased awareness of your organisation leads to more donations.
  • Promote events – by having more people come to your events they will learn more about your organisation and your cause.
  • Recruiting volunteers – helps raise awareness and increase the quality of your service.
  • Initiating sponsor relationships – due to increased visibility online and the growth that follows, more sponsor relationships can be built.
  • Building an E-mail list – making it possible to reach users directly.
  • Getting more to sign up for your newsletter – again giving you the possibility to communicate your cause.
  • Registering more memberships – and making the world a better place!

As you can see, the Google Ad Grant helps you reach the people who matter the most; people who are searching the web for a non-profit organisation just like yours. Being on top of Google Search due to AdWords makes it easier for people to donate and the easier it is the more likely they are to do so.

Put simply, this Ad Grant will help create traffic for your website. This is a great opportunity to grow, spread the word about your non-profit organisation and to make a difference.

Things to remember

But it’s not as simple as it may sound. Here are some things to be aware of:

  • The ads you can make will be text-based, meaning there are no images and videos.
  • Your ads will appear on Google Search results pages, The ad position depends on how aggressive other businesses are bidding for the same Keywords you are advertising for.
  • All your campaigns must be keyword-targeted.
  • Your maximum cost-per-click (CPC) is $2,00 USD.
  • You receive $10,000 USD from Google that needs to be spent on AdWords advertising each month.

As you can gather, there is quite a bit of work to be done on a continuous basis. After being accepted for the Google Ad Grant, there are many rules to be followed in order to keep the Ad Grant. The challenge then is to have the creativity and expertise to get people to click on your ads and thereby actually spend the budget given.

It’s not as easy as it sounds, as for instance having a max CPC of  $2,00 USD limits you in your keyword choices. Here you would have to be creative with longer tail keywords with a lower CPC.

By having a specialist team guide you in this process you will have a bigger chance of utilising all the opportunities that this Google Ad Grant gives you. It’s a big budget and a daily budget of $330 USD can prove quite difficult to spend.
